Shut Down Slaughterhouses: Gretna Meatworks Vigil

Join us on the morning of July 29th at Gretna Meatworks for a vigil, as part of the national Shut Down Slaughterhouses campaign with Farm Transparency Project.

Where: 1261 Black Hills Rd, Gretna
When: 8am until we decide to leave

Gretna Meatworks was one of five Tasmanian slaughterhouses exposed by Farm Transparency Project in 2023/24, and one of 30 investigated nationwide.

This was the second time Gretna Meatworks has been exposed, with footage also released in 2016/17.

What to bring: warm clothes suitable for all weather, drinking water and plant based snacks, phone and phone charger, camp chair, thermos with a hot drink/soup.

We will provide: marquee, placards, some plant based foods.

This will be a peaceful vigil. Please set aside the whole day, not just for the vigil but also for recovery afterwards.
