Epona's Horse Archers is excited to host Riding With Sticks for two clinics at Kensington Park!
https://ridingwithsticks.com.au/
🏹 2 Day Archery Clinic - Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th February, 2026
🗡 1 Day Skill at Arms Clinic - Monday 9th February, 2026 (Public Holiday)
Bookings Close: 16/01/2026
Extended Closing Date: 04/02/2026 – please note a late fee will apply after the original closing date.
🏹 🎯 Horse Archery Clinic:
This is an introduction clinic and assumes that you and your horse have never attempted horse archery, although participants with experience will gain a lot from the clinic. Riders who have already learned the basics are also welcome, and will be provided additional tuition in more advanced techniques and continued improvement of the required skill set.
Riders will be instructed in the archery techniques from the ground, including safe carrying of equipment while on horseback, loading of arrows, shooting, targeting and safe retrieval of arrows, introduction of archery equipment to their horses, and basic shooting from the saddle. Most riders spend the duration of their attendance at walk, and there is no obligation to ride faster than you are comfortable. There will also be discussions regarding competitions, technique equipment selection, further training, and clubs within Australia.
New riders are strongly encouraged to attend both days for the best results. Riders who attend a single day will achieve a basic understanding of the sport and techniques. Riders who have attended a clinic previously may opt for one or two days as suits them, but we do recommend two days wherever possible so we can build on the teachings over multiple sessions.
Tickets are also available for participants in the ground archery session only, and fence sitters. Full event attendees will have a discount applied to their ticketing automatically prior to check out.
Full attendance details will be provided via email prior to the event.
🛡 🗡 Skill at Arms Clinic:
This is an introduction clinic and assumes that you and your horse have never attempted skill at arms or any other type of mounted combat or melee, although participants with sporting and mounted games experience will find some similarities.
Riders will be instructed in the safe use of several different weapons from horseback, including swords, lances and spears, and will focus on honing in their accuracy, speed and balance against a number of challenging obstacles. They will learn how to manage their horse effectively for mounted combat and get to try out some simulated melee (called 'rossfecthin') with other riders.
Riders can book in for either aspect of the clinic or the combined ticket option.
