"Counted thread" means that you create very even, precise stitches by counting the threads of the fabric like a grid. The stitches are simple lines, but the historical designs from the 1500s and 1600s in Europe are elaborate. You can create the most detailed images just by following a pattern and counting one stitch at a time. We will learn 3 stitches: Backstitch, Double-running stitch, and long-arm cross stitch. You'll start a band sampler in class, which you can complete later at home and turn into a bookmark. You’ll also create your own design or modify an existing one using free software or grid paper.A Minor is welcome to register for this class but must be accompanied by a registered adult.Supplies to Bring:scissors for threadreading glasses if neededpenciltablet or laptop for digital pattern making (grid paper will be available as an alternative)snack and beverages if desired$3 materials fee payable to the instructor at start of class.
