Decision Making Under Pressure
Facilitated by Ellen Bierhorst
That sudden surge of adrenaline and spiking sympathetic nervous system are better suited to fleeing a bear than they are to coping with pressing deadlines or rush hour traffic. Because our hardwiring is ill-suited for modern urban life, we are like a fine gasoline engine trying to burn jet fuel. For this reason, an emergent situation will produce watery knees and confused thinking… resulting in poor decision-making.
The good news? There is a way to handle stress...beautifully. And you can learn it in a one day workshop.
People in every profession have used this approach to movement as reliable way to reduce or eliminate tension, nervousness or pain, and a range of disparate problems. A set of guiding principles you keep in mind as you work, the Alexander Technique is a means to finding inner balance. Veteran executive coach Niall Kelly has cleverly adapted the Technique for decision makers of all kinds: corporate managers, moms, pro football coaches, and more. He will be contributing to the workshop via video from Limerick, Ireland.
Come learn how to transform the mind-scrambling pressure signals and make cool headed decisions fully informed by your higher intelligence. It’s not rocket science, nor is it an arcane Mystery.
At the end of the six hour workshop you will be fully equipped, only needing more practice to perfect your skill.
Ellen Bierhorst, Ph.D., clinical psychologist has been a psychotherapist in Cincinnati for over forty years. In 2006 she became fascinated with the power of the Alexander Technique and was compelled to take the intensive three-year training, certifying as a fully qualified teacher in 2009. Since then she has divided her time between ongoing psychotherapy practice and teaching the Alexander Technique. Ellen has given workshops in the U.S., Ireland, Israel, and New Zealand.
Niall Kelly will participate for an hour in the afternoon via internet. Based in Limerick, Ireland he is an organizational development consultant, executive coach, and internationally acclaimed teacher of the Alexander Technique.
