Beginner Chip Carving
Chip carving is a great way to begin wood carving. It is a decorative form of carving in which designs are cut into wooden plaques, plates, boxes, furniture and more. In this course, you will learn the basics of Chip Carving including the various types and the cutting techniques. You will then be given the opportunity to practice on a separate board before carving your own decorative plaque.
Rick Bissonnette began wood carving in 2011 when 2 of his sons took a beginner class, and he thought it would be fun to try. Hooked on this addictive hobby ever since, he has learned various types of wood carving: chip carving, caricature, realistic human, relief, bark houses, spoons, whittling and more. Rick enjoys sharing his excitement for this relaxing craft and teaching others how they can carry on the tradition.
Rick is the current President of the Cincinnati Carvers Guild, one of the oldest woodcarving clubs in the U.S. and has served as its Annual Woodcarving Show Chairman the past 3 years.
