About Phil Bates
Phillip Bates is an experienced Flamenco guitarist with a deep foundation in traditional Spanish Flamenco. He studied at the renowned Los Gallos Tablao Flamenco in Seville and later trained in Madrid with top Flamenco artists including Josele Heredia, Manolete, and Leo Molina at the El Amor de Dios studios. In Australia, he studied for six years under Manolo De Jaen and became a resident guitarist at Dianna Reyes Dance Studio in Sydney.
Phillip has performed nationally and internationally, including appearances at the Sydney Festival, Sydney Opera House Multicultural Festival, and a critically acclaimed recital at the Christchurch Arts Centre. He has also taught Flamenco guitar at the Sydney Spanish Club and now continues to teach in Christchurch, New Zealand.
