House prices are about half way through a peak-to-trough fall of 15%, according to the official forecasts. Bernard Hickey looks at whether that's as far as it goes, and why there's a strong chance of rebound next year as interest rates fall (yes fall) and property investors get ready to celebrate a National/ACT win in late 2023.
Bernard Hickey is an independent financial and political journalist and commentator who works from the Parliamentary Press Gallery in Wellington. He writes a daily subscription email newsletter called The Kākā and also produces a weekly podcast called When The Facts Change via The Spinoff. He regularly appears on television and radio to talk about housing, the economy, interest rates and taxation.
