Step into the world of Christchurch artist Kate McLeod over the first two weekends of November as part of the Arts Canterbury Open Studios. This is a rare opportunity to visit Kate’s home-studio and garden in Ilam, a creative space that’s not normally open to the public.

Kate McLeod is a full-time abstract painter known for her bold, physical painting process and richly layered works that explore colour, light and materiality. She works across oil, acrylic, resin, pigments, and metal leaf, handcrafting all her own timber frames. Kate has exhibited widely across Aotearoa and her paintings are held in collections in New Zealand, the USA, China, and the UK.
During Open Studios you can see where Kate creates her mahi, enjoy the garden setting, and enter the draw to win an original Kate McLeod artwork.

All completed artworks on display will be available for sale, along with a new series of jewellery made from resin offcuts, a perfect chance to add a unique piece to your collection or find a special gift.

Come and meet Kate, experience her creative world up close, and see what goes into making her distinctive abstract works.
