Indigo & Provisions Presents:
Ever wondered: Where does the blue in blue jeans come from!?
A weekend of two different workshops delving into our favourite colour: BLUE. Using natural indigo dye and Japanese Shibori techniques we will explore this beautiful art form. Shibori is a Japanese manual dyeing technique, which produces patterns on fabric. More on that here: https://tinyurl.com/ydhz5qku
Saturday's workship is an introduction to dyeing using an indigo vat and the Shibori method and is suitable for beginners. No experience is required and all materials are included in the cost, which you can keep at the end of the day. The workshop is 6 hours long with an hour break for lunch (food not provided) and shorter breaks throughout. All materials are provided to the value of $30 per person which is included in the ticket price.
The event will begin at 9am at Indigo and Provisions which is located in the Boy's High Building at The Art Centre.
Sunday's workshop is a more advanced/ in depth look at dying and techniques. Also 6 hours long and a seperate event has been set up for that here: https://www.facebook.com/events/308117043241632/?ti=cl
The tutor for these events is Deb Donnelly who is joining us from the Kapiti Coast and is an internationally recognised Shibori teacher and Indigo artist. ( https://debdonnellyecotextiles.wordpress.com/about/
). She will have an exhibiton of her works available throughout the weekend.
