Civic Participation and Ethnic Communities
Your City! Get involved - Have your Say
Civic Participation Forums for Ethnic Communities
As residents of Christchurch, we all want to feel connected to where we live. We want our community to feel like home - a place that gives us a sense of pride, and the type of place we want to work hard to protect and maintain. Becoming more involved in city life can be exciting and rewarding. You can get involved in your local community in so many ways and you can have a say in how decisions are made on behalf of you and your communities.
With the local government elections coming up at the end of the year, it’s a great time to get together to learn more about civic participation.
We have scheduled two sessions for your convenience:
1 April 2.00 5.00 pm- Christchurch City Council Function Room level 1, 53 Hereford Street
16 April 6.30-8.30pm - Christchurch City Council Function Room level 1, 53 Hereford Street
This forum aims to provide you with:

What is Local Government’s role in the community and how can you participate?
- A behind-the-scenes look at how the local government elections work provided by the Council Secretary and Electoral Officer
- Key information from the Electoral Commission
- A national perspective on civic participation and engagement from the Office of Ethnic Communities
