Route description
A testing 20km circular route that climbs three of Lancashire’s best-loved hills: Great Hill, Winter Hill and Rivington Pike. With a combined ascent of some 575m /1900ft, it’s a challenging hike offering some of the best views in the county as a rich reward for the effort. We start beside the reservoirs and the first section of the route loops along the shoreline to White Coppice before a sustained climb to the summit of Great Hill, followed by an elevated traverse across the moorland to Winter Hill. It’s then a gentle descent to Rivington Pike before returning to the start point via the famous terraced gardens.
