Situated amongst the wondrous mountains of Tungnath in the Rudraprayag District Tungnath Temple is the highest Shiva temple in the world nestled at an altitude of 3680 meters. It is one of the Panch Kedars and is believed to have belonged to an ancient era almost 1000 years old. The foundation of this temple was laid down by Arjuna who was the third of the Pandava brothers.
Chandrashila is summit of the Tungnath . It literally means "Moon Rock". It is located at a height of about 4000 metres This peak provides views of the Himalayas including Nandadevi Trisul Kedar Peak Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba peaks. here are various legends associated with this place. According to one such legend this is the place where Lord Rama meditated after defeating the demon-king Ravana.
Deoria Tal is a lake about 3 km from the villages of Mastura and Sari on the Ukhimath-Chopta road at an altitude of 2438 meters. It has heavily wooded lush green surroundings with snow-covered mountains (Chaukhamba is one of them) in the backdrop. The lake is known for its wide 300° panorama. Hindu faith states that the Devas bathed in this lake hence the name.
DAY 1: Mumabi to Delhi (10/03/2121)
# Evening flight from Mumbai to Delhi.
# Take private bus/train to Haridwar.
DAY 2: Haridwar to Chopta (11/03/2121)
# Early morning reach haridwar travel from Haridwar to Chopta in Private car.
# Chopta the base camp of the Deoriatal-Chandrashila trek is an 8 hour drive from Haridwar.
# The journey is picturesque along Badrinath Highway.
# The entire journey traverses the mountain side with the river flowing below you.
# Reach Chopta by late afternoon go down to the village and walk around campsite.
# This is also where you’ll get your first glimpse of the summit of Chandrashila.
# Get Acclimatize to high altitude and erratic weather.
DAY 3: Tungnath - Chandrashila Peak (Full day Trek) (12/03/2121)
# Start the trek early preferably before sunrise so that you can treat yourself to a sunrise view from Tungnath and the Chandrashila peak.
# The trek from Chopta to Tungnath is accessible via a cemented pilgrim trail.
# The walk is pleasant but is a very steep climb.
# The trek up to Tungnath temple is approximately 3 km.
# You can now see Chandrashila peak and Tungnath temple complex at the base of the peak.
# The route to Chandrashila peak is from behind of the temple complex.
# The climb from Tungnath to Chandrashila is a 600 ft ascent and is a very steep climb.
# The climb up to the summit takes 30-45 minutes.
# Reach Chopta again by late afternoon and spend some lovely moments at campsite.
DAY 4: Deoriatal (Full Day Trek) (13/03/2121)
# It’s called Deoriatal coz it’s believed that devis (Goddesses) once came to the lake to take a dip.
# We will proceed to Sari via road and start your trek from Sari.
# A well-defined rocky trail is laid here. This trail begins with a gradual climb up the mountain.
# The trail is well-defined all the way to Deoriatal.
# The forests around here are lovely. You’ll be able to see and hear several rare Himalayan birds.
# There’s a watch tower close to the lake that gives you grand views of the surrounding mountains.
# Reach the lake by afternoon explore and spend some moments by the lakeside in snow.
# Start descending by afternoon and reach Chopta by dawn.
DAY 5: Chopta - Devprayag - Haridwar (14/03/2121)
# Post breakfast check out from campsite and travel to Haridwar via Devprayag holy confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi.
# Reach Haridwar by evening and catch a bus/train for Delhi
# Late night/Early Morning flight to Mumbai

*Trekking Shoes : Sturdy have good grip have ankle support and can handle snow
*Backpack : For a trek like Deoriatal Chandrashila you need a 30-40 litre backpack.
*Clothes : Wearing layers is the mantra in the mountains. Thermals - Tshirts - Woolen.
*Sunglasses : Sunglasses are to prevent snow blindness.
*Suncap : Trekking without a sun cap can lead to headaches sun strokes quick dehydration.
*Hand gloves : You need gloves to grip something/steady yourself in snow and protection from cold.
*Woollen cap : In the cold mountains you lose maximum heat from your head not from your hands feet or the rest of your body.
*Trekking pole : Trekking poles give you stability and balance. They reduce your energy consumption by almost 40%.
*Rainwear : On a trek the weather can change quickly. A bright sunny day can turn into a downpour in a matter of minutes.
Personal Medical Kit
*Diamox (1 Strip): Be on a course of a half tablet Diamox starting from Delhi every 12 hours (125 mg).
*Dolo 650 (5 tablets): This is a paracetamol. It helps to tackle fever mild pain.
*Avomine (4 tablets): Carry this especially if you are prone to motion sickness.
*Combiflam (5 tablets): Take a combiflam if you get a sudden twist of the leg or a muscle strain.
*Digene (4 tablets): Take it if you feel the food that you’ve taken is undigested.
*ORS (6 packs): Consume a pack of ORS water at least once a day usually mid day when you are in the middle of your trek.
*Knee Brace (optional): Carry this if you are prone to knee injury or have known issues of knee pain.

Target completing 5 km in 50 minutes when you begin (A month prior)
Gradually increase your pace by walking 4 times a week and bring it down to 5 km in less than 45 mins.
If you are somebody who prefers cycling over running your target must be to cover 15 km in 60 minutes.
