# Event Details - **Event Name**: GREAT TOMMY SLEEPOUT 2026 - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 21 Mar, 2026 at 08:00 pm – Sun, 22 Mar, 2026 at 08:00 am - **Event Description**: THE REASON: Please check out this link: https://rbli.co.uk/rbli-events/the-great-tommy-sleep-out/ Any funds raised will support RBLI to move homeless veterans into emergency accommodation within 24 hours of referral and offer an established pathway with housing providers nationwide. This includes The Riverside Group, which as part of Op Fortitude, an initiative from the Office for Veterans’ Affairs, is working with RBLI to speed up access to emergency accommodation for homeless veterans across the UK. Also: Veterans under RBLI’s care are provided with employment coaching, vocational assessment and paid work placements through the charity’s STEP-IN programme. The programme also improves a range of independent living skills ranging including managing finances, computer literacy, CV and interview abilities, and cooking. RBLI also offers access to enhanced mental health support, action on alcohol and substance abuse, addiction, bereavement and relationship breakdown. This includes a 12-week counselling and detox service provided by specialists. HOW: The Great Tommy Sleep Out challanges individuals, groups and communities across the UK to brave a cold and potentially wet night to sleep out. The aim is to raise awareness and funds for the estimated 6,000 homeless veterans in the UK who face nights out exposed to the elements on a daily basis. OUR EVENT: Petts Wood Memorial Hall would like to facitilate any individal or group to gather together at the hall as a community for refreshments before bedding down for the night, and then gather again in the morning to share experiences. The Gardens will be available for the challange or participants can overnight in their own selected space. Which might be their own gardens, club yard or even local fields of woods (with landowners agreement). There will be requirments for participents to agree to and uphold whilst within the Hall Grounds. This will be to ensure a safe and rewarding experience for everyone.
