About the event

Go-Skate 2026
A marathon race for longboards, inline and quad skates and roller skiers for the sporty types and an untimed social skate for others.
A downloadable certificate of their marathon time will be available for all those who purchase a race entry.

A LINK TO REGISTRATION WILL BE POSTED HERE WHEN AVAILABLE

Information:
Prizes will be awarded for the fastest marathon in the following categories:
Longboards – male
Longboards – female
Inline skate – male
Inline skate – female
Quad skate – male
Quad skate – female
Roller ski male
Roller ski female

I also hope to be able to award prizes for the fastest single laps, so if you finish your marathon early, take a break and then get some sprints in!

Two to five entrants in category – first prize only
Six to ten entrants in category – first and second prizes
Eleven plus entrants in category – first, second and third prizes

The timing will run for six hours and total distances covered in that time will be made available, but those results are for personal achievement only. No six hour prizes will be awarded. However, the 6 hour results for LONGBOARDERS will be eligible for IDSA rankings.

Social skate – prizes will be awarded for best fancy dress or anything else deemed worthy of reward.

Under 11s can skate for free but must be within supervisory distance of their responsible, fee paid adult at all times on the track. One child per adult.

Spectators and dogs are welcome and free of charge, but should keep a minimum distance one metre from the tarmac of the main track. There is grassed space around the track and a first floor viewing area in the admin building. There is also a footpath fully encircling the track with many viewpoints on the way. Dogs must be on a short lead within the track perimeter fence.

There will be a catering van on site, provided by the circuit’s regular catering contractor.

Please turn up in plenty of time to sign on and collect your wrist band. By signing on you agree that you are competent in your chosen skating discipline, sufficiently fit and healthy to participate and will abide by the event rules below.

Rules:

1. Helmets are to be worn at all times when skating on the track and in the pit area. Elbow pads, knee pads and gloves are recommended.

2. The marathon distance equates to 14.16 laps of the track, hence race will start part way round the track. Racers must pass through the finish arch each lap to ensure that lap is counted by the timing equipment. At the time of writing I am working with the timing service to give text alerts at various points such as one lap to go.

3. Racers should keep to the inside of the track and social skaters to the outside. Social skaters should give way to racers when required. All skaters should take care when leaving or joining the track.

4. No in-ear speakers are to be used on the track. Racers, you need to be aware of what’s happening around you. Social skaters, be sociable and talk to the people near you.
5. Social skaters will be allowed on the track 10-15 minutes after the race start, once the racers have spread out sufficiently.

6. Race numbers should be clearly displayed on the front of the skater’s torso.

7. Consumption of alcohol or recreational drugs during or immediately prior to the event is prohibited.

8. Only skaters wearing an event wrist band will be allowed on the track.

9. Anyone caught flouting these rules or engaging in conduct detrimental to the smooth and peaceful running of the event may be asked to leave the site.
