«Η προσφυγιά δεν είναι έγκλημα - έγκλημα είναι ο πόλεμος»:  Στις 19 & 20 Ιουνίου 2026, το Αντιρατσιστικό Φεστιβάλ της Χίου  #AntiraFestChios ανοίγει τις πόρτες του και για φέτος, στον γνωστό αύλειο χώρο της Φιλαρμονικής.

Στον ένα χρόνο που πέρασε από το προηγούμενο Φεστιβάλ, μεσολάβησαν πολλά: 

Ένας πόλεμος εξελίσσεται πλέον στη γειτονιά μας, μετά την επίθεση Τραμπ - Νετανιάχου στο Ιράν, σε μια κυνική εκδήλωση της «κυριαρχίας του ισχυρότερου», κουρελιάζοντας κάθε έννοια διεθνούς δικαίου. 

Η Γάζα, αλλά και η Δυτική Όχθη, συνεχίζουν να δέχονται τη βάρβαρη επίθεση του ισραηλινού κράτους, που δεν διστάζει να επιτεθεί και στον στόλο της αλληλεγγύης, εκατοντάδες μίλια μακριά, και μερικές δεκάδες μίλια από τις ελληνικές ακτές, με πλήρη συνενοχή του ελληνικού κράτους και της κυβέρνησης Μητσοτάκη.

Στη Χίο, είδαμε με τον χειρότερο δυνατό τρόπο τα αποτελέσματα της δολοφονικής αντιμεταναστευτικής πολιτικής που ασκεί η Ελλάδα και η Ευρώπη-Φρούριο: 15 συνάνθρωποί μας βρήκαν τον θάνατο όταν σκάφος του λιμενικού εμβόλισε το σκάφος στο οποίο επέβαιναν, το βράδυ της 3ης του Φλεβάρη. 15 άνθρωποι, θυσία στον βωμό της υστερίας των συνόρων και της «φύλαξής» τους.

Στη Χίο ζήσαμε, την επόμενη μέρα από το περσινό φεστιβάλ, και τη μεγάλη καταστροφή από τη διπλή πυρκαγιά του περασμένου καλοκαιριού, στο νότιο τμήμα και στην Αμανή που απειλείται επιπλέον και από τα σχέδια εξόρυξης αντιμονίου.

 Είδαμε όμως και την άλλη πλευρά: το μεγάλο κίνημα ενάντια στην εξόρυξη, που έφερε απτά αποτελέσματα. Την κινητοποίηση αλληλεγγύης στους πληγέντες από τις πυρκαγιές. Τις διαδηλώσεις ενάντια στη γενοκτονία στη Γάζα και στον παράλογο πόλεμο, την άμεση κινητοποίηση μετά την τραγωδία του Φεβρουαρίου.

Έγιναν πολλά ακόμα. Αλλά με βάση τα παραπάνω, αποφασίσαμε το σύνθημα μας για φέτος να προσπαθήσει να τα συμπυκνώσει: Η προσφυγιά, η μετανάστευση, το δικαίωμα των ανθρώπων να φεύγουν όταν τους απειλεί ο πόλεμος, η φτώχεια, η καταπίεση κάθε είδους, δεν είναι έγκλημα. Έγκλημα είναι οι πόλεμοι, η γενοκτονία, η κυνική προσπάθεια επικράτησης εκείνων που νιώθουν ισχυροί.

Πέρα από τα παραπάνω «βαριά», αλλά απαραίτητα, γύρω από τα οποία θα περιστραφούν και οι φετινές μας συζητήσεις στο  Φεστιβάλ, θέλουμε στις 19 και 20 Ιουνίου να ζήσουμε όλοι μαζί μια γιορτή: Μια γιορτή αλληλεγγύης και συνύπαρξης, χωρίς αποκλεισμούς.

Με θεατρικές παραστάσεις και μουσικές, με συμμετέχοντες από τη Χίο και όχι μόνο.
Με εκθέσεις και βιβλία, για να δοθεί τροφή για σκέψη.
Με παιδότοπο και παραστάσεις Καραγκιόζη.
Με μεταναστευτική κουζίνα, από τους φίλους μας από άλλα μέρη που συμμετέχουν στη διοργάνωση του Φεστιβάλ.

“Being a refugee is not a crime—war is the crime”: On June 19 and 20, 2026, the Chios Anti-Racism Festival will once again open its doors at the familiar outdoor venue of the Philharmonic.

A lot has happened in the year since the last Festival: 

A war is now raging in our neighborhood, following the Trump-Netanyahu attack on Iran—a cynical manifestation of “might makes right,” tearing apart any notion of international law. 

Gaza, as well as the West Bank, continue to suffer the brutal assault of the Israeli state, which does not hesitate to attack even the solidarity flotilla, thousands of miles away, and a few dozen miles from the Greek coast, with the full complicity of the Greek state and the Mitsotakis government.

In Chios, we witnessed in the worst possible way the consequences of the murderous anti-migrant policies pursued by Greece and Fortress Europe: 15 of our fellow human beings lost their lives when a coast guard vessel rammed the boat they were on, on the night of February 3. 15 people, sacrificed on the altar of border hysteria and the “protection” of those borders.

In Chios, the day after last year’s festival, we also witnessed the massive destruction caused by the twin fires of last summer, in the southern part of the island and in Amani, which is further threatened by antimony mining plans.

 But we also saw the other side: the large movement against mining, which yielded tangible results. The mobilization of solidarity with those affected by the fires. The demonstrations against the genocide in Gaza and the senseless war, the immediate mobilization following the tragedy in February.

Much more has happened. But based on the above, we decided that our slogan for this year should try to encapsulate all of this: Refugeehood, migration, the right of people to flee when threatened by war, poverty, oppression of every kind—these are not crimes. Crimes are wars, genocide, the cynical attempt at domination by those who feel powerful.

Beyond these “heavy” yet necessary topics, around which this year’s discussions at the Festival will revolve, we want to celebrate together on June 19 and 20: A celebration of solidarity and coexistence, without exclusion.

With music, featuring artists from Chios and beyond.
With exhibitions, to provide food for thought.
With a playground and Karagiozis shadow puppet shows.
With immigrant cuisine, prepared by our friends from other places who are participating in the Festival’s organization.
