Using Soft Pastels

Put a new tool in your artist’s bag – pastels! Soft pastels are a fun, flexible way to not only play around with colour and blending, but also to create a delicate layering of pigment to produce a vibrant work of art. Students will be instructed on the various techniques used when using soft pastels, which includes types of paper, blending methods, layering of color using spray fixative, creating detail using pastel pencils.
