I know this because not only do I teach the class, but I also have a chronic pain condition diagnosis myself. Over the past ten years, integrating stillness, breathwork and simple resting postures has helped me reduce physical (and emotional) pain to a level which allows me to live a full and happy life again, and this is one reason in I love teaching these classes.
What Restorative Yoga?
It is somatic mindful postures in stillness, which can help relieve issues in the body, mind, heart and soul. In this class, we use blocks, bolsters, pillows and blankets to support the body in longer held poses. The simplicity of this practice results in an authentic connection between your body, mind and spirit. Settling into poses for extended periods of time allows for a passive stretch assists with pain management and is an effortless way to reduce heart rate and blood pressure. It is also is an opportunity to escape the chatter of the world we live in, where stillness and silence allow is to activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System, easing the body into “Rest and Digest” mode from “Fight or Flight” mode.
Come to reduce pain and tension in your body and leave with true blissful rest.
This class is a mat based series which is accessible to all students. It can also be modified in a chair for those not able to get on and off a mat on the floor.
Pre-registration IS required and this class is limited to 12 students.
