- **Event Description**: Dementia Friends is a social action movement designed so that anyone can get involved and not only improve their understanding of dementia but also contribute to making their community more dementia-friendly. To do this, volunteer Dementia Friends Ambassadors run free Information sessions lasting for 45 – 60 minutes and is a great way to learn a little bit more about dementia. 
 
The session is not classed as training but instead focuses on five key messages about dementia that we think everyone should know, explained through discussions and activities.  Attendees then get the chance to turn their understanding into action by committing to at least one dementia-friendly action. There’s no action too big or too small - it could be anything from spending more time with a family member living with dementia through to sharing information about dementia on social media. After doing this, you’re a Dementia Friend!
