You'll discover its important early role as a new home for Ukrainian, Polish, and Puerto Rican immigrants, see remnants of the city's earliest infastructure projects, and wind past dozens of incredible local businesses, historic churches, industrial buildings, and quaint Chicago homes. Along the way, you'll learn how this diverse community has come together over the years to push back against redlining, gentrification, and urban renewal to become the varied, artsy neighborhood we know it as today.The afternoon will end at beloved local watering hole Irish Nobleman Pub, where participants are encouraged to join the group for a beverage or meal!​Chicago for Chicagoans happily exists as a "pay-what-you-can" tour service. A suggested tip of $10-20 per person is always appreciated, but reviewing us on Yelp, liking us on Facebook, spreading the word, and attending future tours tells us how much you love us too! We are a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates inclusive walking tours by & for Chicago residents, designed to represent the histories of all Chicagoans.
