This year is VAI’s 50th anniversary in solidarity with our community.Since its founding in 1976, VAI has been shaped and sustained by the efforts of community members from different generations and waves of migration—each with their own distinct connection to the community. The first wave of Vietnamese refugees began to organize and help people resettled in Illinois following the Fall of Saigon and created an organization to help fellow Vietnamese people, anticipating the influx of those who were to come. Today, we continue to serve our community to fit changing needs through direct service and community organizing.GIỚI THIỆU VỀ HỘI NGƯỜI VIỆT TẠI ILLINOISHội Người Việt (HNV) là một trong những tổ chức phục vụ người tị nạn Đông Nam Á lớn và lâu đời nhất tại Hoa Kỳ. Năm nay đánh dấu cột mốc 50 năm đồng hành và phục vụ cộng đồng.Được thành lập vào năm 1976, HNV được xây dựng và phát triển nhờ sự đóng góp, đồng hành của nhiều thế hệ thành viên cộng đồng thuộc các làn sóng di cư khác nhau, mỗi người đều mang theo những trải nghiệm, sự gắn kết và đóng góp riêng cho cộng đồng. Làn sóng di cư đầu tiên đã đặt nền móng cho tổ chức thông qua việc hỗ trợ đồng hương tái định cư tại Illinois sau biến cố Sài Gòn thất thủ, đồng thời thành lập Hội để tiếp tục đón nhận và hỗ trợ cho những người Việt đến sau trong bối cảnh cộng đồng không ngừng dịch chuyển. Hiện nay, HNV vẫn tiếp tục thích ứng với những thay đổi của cộng đồng để hỗ trợ họ thông qua các chương trình dịch vụ trực tiếp và hoạt động tổ chức cộng đồng.
