- **Event Description**: Join us as we return to Kenwood Gardens for a daylong gathering, in continued celebration of Rebuild's placemaking across Dorchester.About this EventThis year marks 20 years since our founder, Theaster Gates, started building long-term, self-determined cultural infrastructure on Dorchester Avenue. What began in 2006 with the stewardship of a single vacant home has grown into an artist-led land trust and an evolving constellation of cultural spaces, archives, housing, and sites of production. Together, these projects demonstrate what becomes possible when artists take seriously the long horizons of stewardship. This year, we celebrate 20 years on Dorchester Avenue, five years of Kenwood Gardens, and one year of The Land School, anniversaries made possible through the daily, incremental, and often unseen investments in a future we cannot always see but choose to build. This spring, we paused outdoor programming at Kenwood Gardens to focus resources on that essential work of stewardship, including tending the soil, planting for future seasons, and repairing infrastructure. As we look toward the next 20 years, we’re thrilled to welcome you back to Kenwood Gardens on Sunday, September 20. From 12:30 to 1:30 PM, The Roof Crop will join us for our annual honey extraction (registration for the honey harvest is here), followed by Sunday Service with Duane Powell from 2 to 6 PM.We can’t wait to welcome you back to Kenwood Gardens.Tickets begin at $25, with every dollar directly supporting our continued work at Kenwood Gardens. We invite you to help us carry this work forward. Please note that Sunday Service is an extremely well-attended celebration, and capacity is limited. We are committed to ensuring that our communities feel safe and comfortable while celebrating. Walk-ins will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and only if capacity allows.Kenwood Gardens Policies & ProtocolIn advance of the day, please take note of the policies below to help us care for one another and the space:Drinks and water will be available for purchase on site.
