Each month we invite 10 open mic performers to get up to the mic to share what they do best in a room full of enthusiastic queers. BIPOC & first time performers given priority!If you are interested in performing with us, fill out the submission form linked in your confirmation email once you purchase a ticket. Performer hopefuls will be notified 48 hours before the event if they will be stepping to the stage for a five minute slot with us.After our show opens with our open mic, our feature performer HARLEM NYTE performs to close out the night!Doors at 6pm and our open mic kicks off at 7pm. Dorothy remains open after the event until 11pm.Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 at the door.Dorothy is 21+ and requires physical or mobile ID for all to enter. Dorothy is also ADA accessible with elevator access on Campbell Ave. If you are a guest who requires elevator access, please wait by the black door with our logo in the window and call our staff to assist: 773-770-3799Please note: refund requests are only available until 24h before the show (8/26, 7pm). No other refund requests will be honored.----------------ABOUT YOUR HOST & FEATURETwinka Masala (they/them) is an award-winning drag king and activist based in Chicago, performing nationwide!Harlem Nyte (she/her) is an award-winning, international burlesque performer, choreographer, show/party host and event producer. Her roots in this scene took shape & were planted in the ballrooms, clubs and third spaces of the Black Mecca aka - Harlem, NYC. For the last 20 years however, she has made Chicago her home. She speaks on her love of the culture, understanding of the importance of preserving the history of Black & queer folks & the need for intentionally curated spaces often, using her MC skills & stage presence to foster connections, reinforce safety & most importantly, set a tone that brings out the best energy on the dance floor. In the 4 years since she began, Harlem has performed in more than 100 US cities & 6 international stages. When she isn’t on stage, you can find Harlem spending time with her children AND studying as she pursues her Bachelors in performing arts.
