Re-Creating the Medieval Palette Workshop
Conservation Services and the Center for Renaissance Studies at the Newberry Library will host a four-day workshop to study the the materials (rocks, minerals, metals, insects and plants) that were processed to produce the colors used by artists throughout the medieval era. The workshop will include practical making and painting sessions in the Newberry's conservation lab, in which participants will re-create medieval pigments using original recipes. No previous experience is necessary for the workshop.
The registration fee for the four workshop sessions is $480. Space is limited for the workshop, and only those who have submitted their registration fee in advance will be admitted.
