Unlike the beginner class—where each participant practices on a simple plate provided—this workshop offers the opportunity to repair more complex or personally meaningful ceramic items.Participants are invited to bring their own broken ceramic pieces to work on (must be clean and dry). If you don't have a piece, we’ll provide a more intricate vessel such as a bowl, vase, or base form for you to work with. The class will cover how to assess and plan more complex repairs, troubleshoot common challenges, and refine gold-finish techniques.This is a perfect next step for students ready to build confidence, skill, and creativity through the meditative practice of modern Kintsugi.Prerequisite: Completion of “Kintsugi for Beginners” or equivalent experience using the modern method.Location : Japanese Culture Center. 2940, N. Lincoln Ave, Unit 2.Time/Dates: 3:30PM - 6:30PM, Saturday December 6th, 2025About the instructor:Mami Takahashi is a Japanese multidisciplinary artist and a scholar working at multiple citiesincluding Portland, Chicago and Tokyo. She received her MFA in Contemporary Studio Practice from Portland State University in 2013 and earned a BFA in Japanese Painting from Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan. Takahashi also aims to connect between Japan and communities in Chicago by teaching traditional and modern art-making techniques.
