In 1995, The Smashing Pumpkins released their third studio album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. This double CD/triple LP masterpiece broke sales records and cemented the Pumpkins as one of the most important bands of the 1990s.
To celebrate thirty years of this landmark record, Smiling Politely will perform it in full on December 19th at Chicago’s legendary Cubby Bear — the very venue where The Smashing Pumpkins rehearsed in their early years.
Opening the night will be Shady Lane, Chicago’s new tribute to Pavement — the highly influential indie rock band that defined ’90s slacker culture. Featuring veterans of some of the city’s finest tribute acts and bar bands, Shady Lane has arrived to brighten the covers.
All proceeds from this show will go towards PAWS Chicago, a leading no-K*ll animal welfare organization that saves homeless pets and works to build no-K*ll communities in Chicago
