He works primarily as a musician/sound designer but also has an extensive theater background (actor) and makes work as a photographer. Yaw's work addresses language and sound as cultural currency. He is also interested in the documents and legacies of families, particularly his own. He is currently a vocalist in the band ‘Black Monks’, led by internationally known artist Theaster Gates. Most recently, as a Mellon Fellow, Yaw mined the Ed Williams archives of the Stony Island Arts Bank to produce a 7-inch vinyl record titled ‘Agoro’.About Listening HoursContinuing our investment in the sonic architecture of Black space, Listening Hours welcomes all to gather with us in space, sound, and silence. Each session invites you to join our team and special guests as we deepen our presence and aural attention with each of their record selections.Listening hours are held every Thursday through Saturday from 12 PM to 8 PM.
