Join us at the National Hellenic Museum and experience the life of people in Ancient Greece. Everyday ancient is a unique way to learn about the life of the Ancients and how they build their societies. Activities include Ancient Games, Readers Theatre, and see Democracy in Action!
In Ancient Games, families will have the opportunity to learn about and play several different Greek games such as petteia, mancala, pentelitha, and backgammon.
Ancient Athens was credited with creating the first form of democracy. In Democracy in Action, families and kids ages 8 and older will be able to participate in ancient Athenian democracy through the lens of Greek myths by voting on a mock trial. Afterwards, kids will have an opportunity to craft replicas of the voting ballots used in ancient Athens.
Theatre was also invented in Athens, where Ancient Myths would be imagined in dramatic performance. Kids ages 7 and up will have the opportunity to take part in this ancient tradition and explore the timeless themes in Greek Mythology in our readers theatre activity.
