Vanderstappen Distinguished Service Professor of Art History at the University of Chicago, for a public conversation celebrating Lu Yang’s participation in  at the Smart Museum of Art. Working across video, gaming technologies, animation, and installation, Lu Yang engages questions of gender, neuroscience, religion, and the body through the visual languages of digital culture and Japanese manga. The conversation will explore how artistic practice and art history intersect in shaping new narratives of Chinese art in a global context. In conjunction with Beyond Boundaries, the Center for the Art of East Asia (CAEA) will also co-sponsor a panel conversation with Lu Yang alongside Xin Wang (Curatorial Director, PACE Gallery), Dr. Leslie Kay (Professor of Psychology &amp; Neuroscience, The University of Chicago), and Rodica-Livia Monnet (Full Professor, Université de Montréal). The event will take place at the Cochrane-Woods Art Center, Room 157, from 4:00–5:30 PM.ABOUT LU YANGWorking across video, gaming technologies, animation, and installation, Lu Yang explores questions of gender, biology, neuroscience, and religion through visual languages drawn from digital culture and Japanese manga.
