"The real MULHOLLAND DRIVE for girls and gays" -- Sarah Squirm

DOPPELGANGER is a wildly singular tale of supernatural suspense and psychological terror that goes so much further in both directions than one could imagine! In nature, every element has duality. Every male has a female, every day has a night, and every good has evil. In all of us, there too exists this duality. But in one desperate young woman, there is something more... something terrifying and something unimaginable. Perhaps the idea of duality is only the tip of the iceberg, and what lies beneath proves our binary notions to be foolish human nonsense, only in place to shield our fragile brains from the mind-melting truth...

Oozing with style & genre-bending mania in all the right ways, DOPPELGANGER is the rare film that truly must be seen to be believed. Wildly oscillating between goopy gore practical effects; love letters to psychosexual thrillers; and Mario Bava, David Lynch, Los Angeles, and Brian De Palma; this film somehow succeeds as a slippery, sleezy, sexy, phantasmagoria that will enhance your life in ways you didn't ask for, but truly need. It could very well be Drew Barrymore's most undersung performance, and that's a sin the world needs to rectify. Come see for yourself, with an insanely rare screening on 35mm courtesy of the fine folks at Academy Film Archive.
