After School Coding Workshop at National Teacher's Academy
compileHer will be offering a new computer science workshop series at National Teachers' Academy this Spring for 6th-8th grade female students! Our 8-week program will be taught once a week on Tuesdays from 4-5:30 PM by undergraduate students from the University of Chicago. We will be introducing our students to a number of different technologies and applications of computer science. Students can expect to learn something new each week and come away with a portfolio of projects.
This year’s projects include:
Scratch is a free, visual programming language. Learn about how programs are made and get some practice debugging and fixing broken programs.
Make music with code! Learn about PureData, a visual programming tool for making melodies. Take home your music and you can make more
Apple Field Trip
Go on a fun field trip to the Apple store with your mentors to see what a day in the life of an Apple employee looks like!
The Finch robot is a simple, programmable robot. Learn about how coding is used to program robots. Get some hands-on practice with robotics this week.
Learn to program a Drone by making it interact with its surroundings! You can make it fly, dance, or sense environmental changes!
