The Alliance Française Chiang Mai is pleased to present Obviously Invisible, a new solo exhibition by Thai artist Krynkana Kongpetch, curated by Myrtille Tibayrenc, opening on Friday, November 14th, 2025 as part of Galleries Night, the annual art celebration initiated by the French Embassy in Thailand.
Through performance, sculpture, and mixed media works, Obviously Invisible explores the quiet power of voices often unheard — those erased or overlooked in dominant social systems. Drawing from fragments of pop culture, traditional fabrics, sound, and poetry, Kongpetch invites viewers into a playful space of reflection.
The exhibition includes:
– A live performance (7.30PM on 14 and 15 November 2025)
–A mixed media sculpture
– A set of mixed media two dimensional works
Born in Bangkok in 1982, Krynkana Kongpetch holds degrees from Silpakorn University and a PhD from The Australian National University. Her work addresses themes of storytelling, intersexuality, and the shifting borders between myth, fiction, and fact. She currently teaches full-time at the Visual Arts Department, Chiang Mai University.
