Cinemata — After the Silence is a collection of films exploring the realities of gender violence, consent, and the struggle for agency. Stories that witness, question, and confront power, control, and the fight for selfhood. Spanning works from Bangladesh and across Asia, the film programme explores how silence is enforced by violence and systemic oppression, moving beyond victimhood. Cinemata is a user-contributed video platform specifically designed for social issue films across the Asia-Pacific region. Unlike YouTube, it is completely ad-free and respects your privacy. Unlike Vimeo, it is 100% free with no subscription tiers. Cinemata operates as a project of EngageMedia, a nonprofit that has been building video platforms since 2006.Farhana Farha is a filmmaker, activist, and Cinemata curator. She uses visual storytelling to challenge structural inequality and rejects neutrality in favor of social justice.
