📆 Date : 8th - 13th Dec. 2025
🕰️ Time : 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
📍 Venue : @Pa Rang cafe & Art stay
Designer and curator Bora Hong, originally from Seoul and currently based in Chiang Mai, will present new editions from her ongoing project Cosmetic Surgery Kingdom during Chiang Mai Design Week 2025.
Cosmetic Surgery Kingdom explores South Korea’s booming plastic surgery culture by drawing parallels with design practices. The project examines how body modification becomes a way to express dignity and seek better social standing—raising the question: while designers aim to create “good design,” what does it truly mean to “be better”?
In Chiang Mai, Bora continues this inquiry by collecting abandoned objects and reimagining them through repair and transformation. Collaborating with local designers and craftspeople, she gives these discarded items a second life—embedding them with new stories and highlighting the value of local craftsmanship.
The outcomes of this research and collaboration will be exhibited at her art space, Pa Rang Cafe and Art Stay, during Chiang Mai Design Week 2025. The Exhibition title is "Fixing the past, Making the future.
