“Blood of the Gods, Tears of the Sun” is a continuing exploration from the exhibition Survival Sphere, presented by Wanlop Hansunthai in 2024. Amid a rapidly changing world marked by environmental crises, migration, and the destabilization of social structures, the abundance that once formed the foundation of human civilization is being consumed beyond its limits, deteriorating in ways that may be impossible to restore.
The works in this exhibition reflect the interwoven relationship between humanity, belief, and resources. Sacredness is not confined solely to rituals, but is embedded within ways of life sustained by these very things. Yet when everything is reduced to a “resource,” its original meaning gradually fades away, leaving behind only what has been exploited and is nearing depletion.
This exhibition is therefore not merely a representation of loss, but an inquiry into the human condition as both worshipper and destroyer. What humanity once revered as sacred is now being driven silently toward decay, leaving only traces of beliefs that refuse to disappear — like the final ashes of a ritual still warm beneath the earth, awaiting the moment when humanity may finally realize that what has been lost is not simply the world’s resources, but a fragment of the spirit that has long sustained our existence.

Wanlop Hansunthai 
Wanlop Hansunthai (b. 1978, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand) is a Thai contemporary artist currently living and working in Chiang Mai. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University. His practice explores the relationships between humanity, nature, and society through a diverse range of media, including painting, mixed media, sculpture, photography, and installation art. His works engage with social, cultural, political, and environmental issues through artistic processes deeply rooted in contemporary lived experience.
Throughout his career, Hansunthai has participated in numerous exhibitions and art festivals in Thailand and internationally. Hansunthai's artistic practice is grounded in the observation of phenomena and the creation of spaces for interaction. His work emphasizes the intrinsic qualities of materials and their relationship to place, integrating them with expressive painterly techniques and vigorous brushwork to create richly textured surfaces that reflect fragility, transformation, and the continuous evolution of both nature and society.
For Hansunthai, art is not merely an object to be viewed but a process that connects artistic practice with everyday life. His works create spaces for questioning, reflection, and dialogue, functioning as conversations between art, people, and their social context. They reveal shifting environmental conditions and evolving ways of thinking, underscoring the forces that continue to shape contemporary history.

วัลลภ หาญสันเทียะ (เกิด พ.ศ. 2521 จังหวัดนครราชสีมา) เป็นศิลปินร่วมสมัยชาวไทย ปัจจุบันพำนักและทำงานอยู่ที่จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ สำเร็จการศึกษาจากคณะวิจิตรศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ผลงานของเขาสำรวจความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์ ธรรมชาติ และสังคม ผ่านการใช้สื่อที่หลากหลาย ทั้งจิตรกรรม สื่อผสม ประติมากรรม ภาพถ่าย และศิลปะจัดวาง โดยมุ่งตั้งคำถามต่อประเด็นด้านสังคม วัฒนธรรม การเมือง และสิ่งแวดล้อม ผ่านกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ที่เชื่อมโยงกับบริบทของชีวิตร่วมสมัย
