Midsummer is the most important night of the year across the Baltic states. On the longest day, people stay up until dawn — making food together, weaving flower crowns, singing, dancing, and jumping over bonfires to mark the season and each other. It is less a performance than a ritual: something you participate in, not watch.

Last year, Samanta (Latvia) and Georgi (Estonia) brought this celebration to Chiang Mai for the first time. More than 150 people joined — local Thais, long-term residents, and digital nomads — for an evening of shared food, dancing, and fire. This year, we're doing it again, and we're going deeper.

The theme for the second edition is Reciprocity With Place: a question that feels alive in a city like Chiang Mai, where many people pass through and benefit from a place without always asking what they can give back. The evening pairs Baltic midsummer traditions with Northern Thai practices around plants, food, and community — run in both English and Thai.
