We have planted over 1,900 trees since 2017, and this May 16th we will be planting our 2,000th tree!
Our tree planting depends on volunteers – no prior experience is required! As a planting day volunteer, we will ask you to join us at the Cheyenne Urban Forestry Shop at 7:30 am. Wear weather appropriate clothing including close-toed shoes. We suggest dressing in layers as it is usually chilly in the morning but warms up quickly. Water bottles, gloves, and ear plugs will be available at the shop for your use. When you arrive, we ask that you park on the west side of the lot and enter through the south entrance of the building.
Upon entering you will be asked to check-in, given your t-shirt, safety vest, and directed to the center bay of the shop. Feel free to grab coffee, breakfast and introduce yourself to the other volunteers. At 8:00am there will be a short welcome and safety overview. Crew leaders will be introduced, and you will be asked to split into even planting groups under each crew leader. Each planting group will be led by a crew leader and a Rooted in Cheyenne board member or Cheyenne Urban Forestry crew member. Each planting group will leave the forestry shop and head to their first planting site – we request that groups carpool as much as possible. You will be guided on how to plant trees to industry standard at each planting site. Crews will plant 8-10 trees and then return to the Cheyenne Urban Forestry Shop to enjoy lunch.
Freedom’s Edge Brewing Company graciously offers all planting volunteers a free 10 oz. pour of beer to enjoy on the day of planting. We hope to see you after planting to enjoy a cold local craft beer!

All volunteers must be 12 years of age or older and registered prior to planting day to ensure even planting groups. Please ensure that family or friends you plan to bring with you register prior to the event. For safety reasons, we will be limiting the number of volunteers during our planting days.
