The Red Cedar Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce its Spring 2026 concert series, “Famous Melodies,” a celebration of classical music that listeners may know by heart without realizing its origins.
Concerts take place at 4 pm on Saturday, February 28, at Chetek Lutheran Church in Chetek, and at 4 pm on Sunday, March 1, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake.
Admission is $15. Ages 21 and under admitted FREE.
According to Artistic Director Adam Bever, "Famous Melodies" promises "aha" moments for listeners, whether the audience is new to classical music or well-versed. The themes presented at the concerts are common in American films and commercials, running in the background of our culture.
Some of the classical music featured in “Famous Melodies” include Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, with its iconic first eight notes, Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown,” heard in multiple films and the famous “Beef, it’s what’s for dinner” ad campaign of the 1990s, as well as Mozart’s familiar "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.
Even if you’ve never been to a classical music concert, you are sure to know some of these pieces. Please join the Red Cedar Symphony for an opportunity to reconnect with the “Famous Melodies” that have quietly scored our lives.
