Chesterfield College runs Silversmithing and Jewellery Making courses throughout the year, held in our purpose-built workshops and run by experienced silversmiths. If you are interested in ‘having a go’ at this unique art form, you can attend our three-hour taster workshop on 8 December between 5-8pm at Chesterfield College’s Infirmary Road campus.
Over the course of the evening you will be taught how to craft your own piece of jewellery, using real silver, that you will be able to take away with you at the end of the night.
What you make is completely down to you! The class aims to teach you the basics of silversmithing - what you do with them is up to you.
Ideal for creating a unique and special Christmas gift.
During the session we focus on how to cut, solder, texture and finish silver. We'll explore saw piercing, hammering, roll printing, stamping, forming, soldering, filing, sanding, polishing and more.
All tools and equipment are provided. Your class fee includes enough silver to get you started with more available to purchase on the day.
Our workshops are socially distanced and we use thorough measures of cleaning on tools and equipment to ensure your safety. Should the sessions not be possible due to a shift in government covid guidelines then we will rearrange the session to an alternative date and communicate this directly to you.
