Sue Jones & Sue Worsfold – Two fiddles, one enchanting partnership. Sue Jones and Sue Worsfold create beautiful, intricate harmonies that weave together with effortless elegance. Their interplay is full of energy, nuance, and joy, making every set a captivating experience for dancers and listeners alike. The Waite Collective – A family affair! Mother Mal and daughters Rebecca and Katrina have been singing together for over 20 years. Their joyful songs, full of catchy tunes and heartfelt energy, are sure to get your feet moving as you join in on the dance floor. Workshop - Congo de Captieux. A four-person dance from Gascogne which blends the flowing, elastic steps of the rondeau with a playful storyline full of dramatic intrigue. Couples meet, part, and interact through intricate figures that bring flirtations and storytelling to life. We’ll start by exploring the graceful asymmetry and rhythmic bounce of the rondeau step, then gradually introduce the precise stops, turns, and directional shifts that shape each character’s journey. The dance offers a delightful challenge for both body and mind, with plenty of satisfaction in mastering its expressive figures at your own pace. All levels welcome and no prior dance experience is required! Balfolk is a joyful, inclusive tradition of live folk music and social dancing from across Europe. It's an event for people of all ages and experience levels, where the focus is on having fun and connecting with others. The dances are easy to learn, and friendly dancers are always ready to show you the steps. You don’t need to bring a partner as you’ll have plenty of chances to dance with different people throughout the event. Balfolk is about community, inclusivity, and shared enjoyment.
