It time to get cold! The 2026 Schock & Shivers 5k and Cold Water Challenge is a Team Chesapeake Law Enforcement United event to fundraise for the Road to Hope. Join us at the Oak Grove Lake Park on January 24, 2026, where we will honor Chesapeake officers Tim Schock and Jarrod Shivers, who were killed in the line of duty. This race will warm up your body while running, and give you a chance to cool off at the end - by taking the Cold Water Challenge in the Oak Grove Lake Park. Chesapeake Police and Fire divers will be there for your safety through out event!

Team Chesapeake is part of the larger Law Enforcement United, a 501c3 that fundraises annually for the Road to Hope, a 250-mile bike ride to honor the fallen and remember the survivors. RUNNER SWAG
Your registration will get you a Schock & Shivers 5k and Cold Water Challenge runner bag and a finisher medal for all participants. Register before 1/10/2026 to get a Schock & Shivers shirt in as part of your registration! Team Chesapeake will also have merch for purchase at the event. Completing the Cold Water Challenge will earn participants a special gift while the last. All runners will still receive the shirt, medal, and swag bag!
Virtual Participants will receive a race shirt (size guarantee if registration prior to 1/10) and a finisher medal, to be shipped to your address!
There will be prizes for the fastest runners! Categories are still being decided; but like all races, the more runners, the more winners! Timing is provided by Tidewater Striders for this race! Don't worry though, none of your event coordinators are breaking world records!
THE COURSE
Oak Grove Lake Park is a 1.5 mile loop around on a trail-style path. The race will start at the Tim Schock Memorial, placed in honor of the officer who died in a diving accident in the Oak Grove Lake.
The event will take place shine or rain! In the event of wintry weather, a decision will be made and all racers will be notified as to future steps.

VIRTUAL 5K
Want to support a great cause but cannot make it to Chesapeake? No worries! Run the 5k wherever you are at - we'll mail your shirt to you, you just have to provide your own ice bucket for effect! The virtual 5k is $35 and registration is open until 1/23/2026. We'll ship your shirt to you, so it'll be like you were here with us!
