Copperplate Calligraphy workshop
A copperplate is a form of calligraphy done with a pointed metal calligraphy nib. The style is primarily used in English and American calligraphic traditions. The style originated in the 16th and 17th centuries as a quill-written cursive script, often called roundhand (but not to be confused with the broad-nib calligraphic style, bookhand, which is also sometimes called roundhand). As with other quill and pointed pen styles, the script features heavy downward strokes and lighter upward strokes due. The quill or metal nib flares open as the calligrapher applies more pressure on the downward pull, releasing more ink.
