Sanskrit can feel intimidating - but it doesn’t have to be. In this practical, interactive workshop, you’ll learn the foundations of Sanskrit pronunciation and the vocabulary of common pose names.
 
Across three hours, we’ll break down the sounds of Sanskrit so you can pronounce posture names confidently and consistently. You’ll also learn a selection of simple Sanskrit terms related to movement, direction, and anatomy as well as some nature and animal vocabulary to enrich your class themes and support your cueing of poses, and help you remember asana names through knowledge and understanding, not just memorisation. 
 
Whether you already use Sanskrit in your classes or you tend to avoid it because you’re unsure, this workshop will give you the understanding to integrate it confidently and effectively.
 
Available for 3 hours of Yoga Alliance Continuing Education credit through the Subject Matter Expert pathway.

Dr Victoria Jackson has been teaching yoga for ten years, and offers regular vinyasa and restorative classes alongside mentoring teachers and dedicated students in developing their own sustainable, self-led practice. She holds a PhD in classical languages and has always been passionate about helping yoga teachers engage with Sanskrit not as an abstract or intimidating subject, but as a living language that deepens understanding of yoga philosophy, mantras, and practice.
