Le violoncelliste et compositeur canadien de renommée internationale Raphael Weinroth-Browne est célébré pour son jeu émotif et virtuose tant sur scène qu'en studio.
Il a joué sur des albums primés aux Juno Awards, participé à des bandes originales de films et de séries télévisées de renom et réalisé des clips vidéo devenus viraux sur YouTube. Il a fait le tour du monde avec le groupe de rock progressif norvégien Leprous et s'est produit au Hellfest, le plus grand festival de métal au monde. En 2022, il a joué avec Leprous au prestigieux Royal Albert Hall de Londres et a assuré les premières parties des poids lourds du rock Evanescence, Devin Townsend et Apocalyptica.
Les collaborations de Raphaël s'étendent de la musique iranienne à la musique ouest-africaine. En tant qu'artiste solo, il a assuré les premières parties de la pianiste néoclassique polonaise Hania Rani, de l'ensemble folklorique nordique français SKÁLD et de la Compagnie nationale de danse de Corée.
En octobre 2023, Raphael a présenté son album solo acclamé Worlds Within avec Ottawa Dance Directive à guichets fermés dans la prestigieuse salle Southam du Centre national des Arts. En 2024, la compagnie britannique James Wilton Dance lui a commandé une musique originale pour leur dernière œuvre, BACH Reimagined, avec laquelle il a effectué une longue tournée au Royaume-Uni et en Allemagne au printemps 2025. Son nouvel album solo, Lifeblood, est désormais disponible.
Internationally renowned Canadian cellist and composer Raphael Weinroth-Browne has been celebrated for his emotive and virtuosic playing both on stage and in the studio.
He has played on Juno award-winning albums, appeared on major film and tv soundtracks and made viral YouTube music videos. He has toured the world with the Norwegian progressive rock band Leprous and performed at Hellfest, the world’s biggest metal festival. In 2022, he played with Leprous at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall and opened for rock heavyweights Evanescence, Devin Townsend, and Apocalyptica.
Raphael’s diverse collaborations range from Iranian to West African music. As a solo artist, he has appeared on coveted opening slots for Polish neoclassical pianist Hania Rani, French nordic folk ensemble SKÁLD, and the National Dance Company of Korea.
In October 2023, Raphael performed his acclaimed solo album Worlds Within with Ottawa Dance Directive in the National Arts Centre’s prestigious Southam Hall to a sold out audience. In 2024, he was commissioned by the UK-based company James Wilton Dance to create an original score for their latest work BACH Reimagined, which he toured extensively with them in the UK and Germany in spring 2025. Raphael’s new solo album Lifeblood is out now.
