Chelmsford Garden Community Council is pleased to let you know that on 4th January 2026 it is hosting its first Community Fun Run. The Council is pleased to be able to collaborate with New Hall school to be able to provide this event.
For this New Year, turn over a new leaf in your fitness journey by trying this run! It is not a timed race but a fun run to introduce our residents to the benefits of running for your physical and mental health! You are also welcome to join the event if you wish to complete the course at a swift walk.
You can view the route map on our event page and will see that the start point is within the grounds of New Hall school. Check in at 9am for the Run to start at 9.30am with the aim of everyone finishing no later than 11am.
Although there will be some parking provision within the grounds of New Hall school which can be accessed via the north entrance from Remembrance Avenue and New Hall Way, you are encouraged to travel to the event in a sustainable way – either by walking or cycling!
The course is flat and traffic free consisting of a 1 lap route. It is around 3.1 Kilometers, run on a mixture of tarmac paths, trail paths and grass. Starting and finishing outside the Historic New Hall School, this is a run for both regular and new runners and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain, so please wear appropriate footwear.
The Run is free to participate in, although we do encourage you to make a donation to our chosen Charity – Sanctus. Please bring cash on the day for donations. Sanctus help and support the homeless and most vulnerable people of Chelmsford and Essex. Registered Charity no.1150313.
No children under the age of 11 may participate in this event. Although young people aged 11 to 18 are welcome to participate, please note that you must be accompanied by an adult as this Council will not be supervising young people.
Please note that runners may not bring dogs along although spectators are welcome to bring dogs provided they are on a lead.
To take part in the Fun Run, you will need to pre-register on the Event Brite below. The event is limited to 400 spaces so please book as soon as you can!
