It’s time to party hard at the disco 2000, and come on a joyride with the UK’s newest and most hardcore Pulp tribute act, as they launch their first ever live show at Hotbox! Supported by Britpop DJs Rupert Wilson and Rob Lord ”
Common People, a tribute to the music of Pulp and Jarvis Cocker, is the brainchild of guitarist Matt Poole (The Chives, Lemoncurd Kids) and singer Rico Wilco (Youth Culture KMD, Sound Mirrors, Fret Bear). Matt and Rico were ace faces of the Essex Indie scene in the 90s, playing legendary venues like The Y-Club and Army & Navy, sharing stages with the likes of Radiohead and Ocean Colour Scene. Their shared passion for Pulp is made more authentic because the indie attitude they bring to the room is the real deal.
After performing together for the best part of a decade in Andy Poole’s Riddled With Booze Orchestra, Matt was blown away by Rico’s rendition of Pulp’s biggest hit, and resolved to build a band around this passionate, tall and angular frontman. Matt and Rico are joined by guitar wizard, Russ Harvey, of tribute acts Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode), Love Distraction (Human League) and Retro Electro; On drums, Steve Cook of Quo tribute, Quo’d, and the Tina Live touring show; and on bass Wayne Tinsley, a compatriot of Matt from the groups Loonie Balloonies and Squeal, member of the tribute act ELO Again (ELO) and one of the hardest gigging guys in Essex.
We are Common People, you are Common People too, right? Alright
