For adults aged 50 and above, we present Silver Adventures—an exceptional opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and tailored programming under the guidance of our expert outdoor team.
Discover the beauty of spring with Outdoor Chattanooga’s Silver Adventure Wildflower Walk, thoughtfully curated for participants ages 50 and over, on the Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail near La Fayette, Georgia. This scenic 0.8-mile out-and-back trail is celebrated for its stunning spring blooms, featuring nearly 50 varieties of wildflowers at their peak in March and April. A gently winding wooden boardwalk leads through a lush forest alongside Pocket Branch and ends at a picturesque waterfall whose flow varies with the season.
A naturalist from the Parks & Outdoors Natural Resources Team will assist with wildflower identification and share engaging insights about the area’s plants, wildlife, and ecosystems. The walk is designed to be relaxed and informative, allowing time for observation, learning, and enjoyment of the surroundings. Bring a packed lunch to enjoy on this journey!
For those interested in exploring further, the Pocket Loop Trail branches off from the wildflower trail leading a waterfall for an out and back extra adventure.
Registration is required. Participants may choose to travel in our passenger van, caravan in a convoy, or meet the group directly at the trailhead. Additional travel and meeting details will be shared in the confirmation email following registration.
Parking Requirement: A Georgia DNR Wildlife Management Area (WMA) pass is required to park at The Pocket. An annual pass is $30, or a daily pass may be available through the Go Outdoors Georgia website. A current Georgia hunting or fishing license may also be used in place of a WMA pass.
