First Casts: A Kids Learn-to-Fish Program (Ages 12 & Under)

Introduce your child to the joy of fishing at East Lake Park in Chattanooga! First Casts is a fun, hands-on program designed especially for kids ages 12 and under to learn the basics of fishing in a supportive, playful environment.

Outdoor Chattanooga staff will guide participants through fishing fundamentals, including how to use a rod and reel, casting techniques, and basic fish identification. Rods, reels, and all fishing equipment are provided, along with engaging games and activities tailored for younger anglers to keep learning fun and interactive.

This program is perfect for first-time fishers and families looking to enjoy the outdoors together. Caregivers are encouraged to assist alongside their children, making First Casts a great opportunity for a multigenerational outdoor experience that builds skills, confidence, and lasting memories.

No prior fishing experience is required—just bring your curiosity and get ready to cast your first line!
