The Public Education Foundation and the Hamilton County Department of Education are hosting the 2019 Chattanooga FAB Institute June 17 - 19 in Chattanooga, TN, in partnership with the NEA Foundation. This unique professional development is designed to give K-12 teachers one-of-a-kind experiences as they engage in hands-on learning with digital fabrication tools in the brand new Volkswagen eLabs! This inaugural event is offered to teachers for exceptionally low cost thanks to a generous grant from the NEA Foundation.
The 3-day digital fabrication PD offers teachers an opportunity to engage in authentic experiences with 3D printing, laser engraving/cutting, vinyl cutting, CNC routing, micro-computing, and much more! Each morning, guest speakers will keynote and kick off the day. Then, participants will be shuttled to a nearby school where Volkswagen eLab Specialists (the full-time specialized teachers in these labs) will facilitate day-long learning activities as they unpack not only the basics of how to use the technology, but also the nuances that are critical to delivering effective maker-enhanced learning experiences for students.
This year, we are excited to announce that we have more than doubled the number of tools accessible in each lab so that participants can have an even better hands-on experience!
This conference is designed in partnership with the Pittsburgh Fab Institute hosted annually by Elizabeth Forward Schools in Pennsylvania. We would love to have you attend, but if Pittsburgh is more convenient, please check out our friends in Elizabeth Forward!
