- **Event Description**: Candlelight Tours, 2025 will be held on Friday, December 12th and Saturday, December 13th, 5p.m. - 9p.m. Candles will be extinguished at 9p.m., so please arrive by 8 p.m. to best enjoy this event. If you are coming with a group of 10 or more please try to arrive around 5 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door the night of the event, and nowhere else online. 
The Vann House, Cherokee Farmstead, and Kitchen Cabin exhibit will be illuminated by hundreds of candles to light your path as you tour the grounds. The house will be decorated with wreaths, candles, fresh boughs and winter blossoms, just the way the Moravians and their Cherokee students decorated two-hundred years ago.
Inside the home, visitors may tour the house while listening to the soft strumming of Christmas Carols, played by a live musician. Tour guides will be stationed throughout the grounds to answer all your questions.
Your self-guided tour continues with hot apple cider and Moravian cookies served beside a warm fireplace in our Vann Kitchen cabin. Finally, visitors can walk through our Cherokee Farmstead and see our cozy antique dwelling cabin by candlelight. The Visitor Center will be open for viewing our gallery and a short history film before starting the tour.
If you can't make the event, the decorations will be in place after the event through the end of December and can be viewed during a regular house tour. (Thursday - Saturday 9-5)
The Moravian Missionaries of Spring Place were the first missionaries to open a school in the Cherokee Nation and their festivities most likely represent the first Christmas celebration on the Cherokee Nation. In fact, one of the earliest recorded uses of a Christmas tree in Georgia is found in the Springplace Mission diaries on December 21, 1805: “Today we went three miles in our cart with our pupils to fetch a Christmas tree.”
$8 per person, children 5 & under are free. Pay at the door, no reservations necessary. This event will be taking place in cold, rain, or snow. We accept all forms of payment.
