How does a Pub Sing work?

This is a participation event, not a concert, and the instruments we bring are our voices. We sit in a casual circle. Your host will lead the first song to get things moving, then we'll open the floor to anyone with a song to share. When it's your turn, you can lead a song, request a song, or simply "pass" and enjoy the music. Once everyone who wants to lead something has had a turn, we'll open it up for more songs as time allows.

Tips for choosing a song:

To get the whole room involved, we highly recommend choosing songs with a chorus, a refrain, or other repeating element where everyone can easily join in. Shanties, ballads, and traditional folk songs can work beautifully for this, though anything goes!

No Obligation: There is absolutely no pressure or obligation to lead a song! Sing along to your comfort level or simply sit back and enjoy the music.

Support the Venue: This event is entirely free to attend, but please support the pub and its staff by ordering a drink or a bite to eat, as they are kindly hosting our gathering.

This is an open sing that anyone is welcome to join. Singing is unaccompanied; other than that, there aren't too many rules. You can sing anything you want, but songs with a high-quality, singable chorus will be especially appreciated.
